Supporting Leaders of the Future-Employability day

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿง‘โ€๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐ŸŽ“When you were at school did you know what you wanted to do in the future and how youโ€™d get there?

๐Ÿ”ฎ๐Ÿ”ฎ๐Ÿ”ฎ Iโ€™ve just finished spending the day with several groups of 15 year old boys and girls who are exploring what they do in the future. #thehemelhempsteadschool

๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿ’ก It was so rewarding to spend time with them, share insights, experiences, tips and listen to them. Having a positive impact and being a role model is so important.

We mostly talked about:

๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ“– CVs: what they are, why you need them, and what you include in them - only a few had really done this properly.

๐ŸŽฏ๐ŸŽฏ๐ŸŽฏ Recognising your achievements, skills, qualities and experiences - so many are missed by them.

๐Ÿš€๐Ÿš€๐Ÿš€ Interviews: how to apply for jobs, preparing for interviews, and how to show up and give a great account of yourself and have impact.

โ›ท๏ธโ›ท๏ธโ›ท๏ธ In my last group we went a bit โ€˜off-pisteโ€™ at the end. We started a debating session on โ€˜Is it worthwhile going to universityโ€ with half the group arguing for and half against.

๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคฉ We had some real fun and the girls debating this topic were brilliant.

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Such a great experience - Iโ€™m feeling really energised.

โœจโœจโœจ There are some brilliant youngsters out there that will be leaders of the future.

They just need to find the right support and guidance to help them shine and achieve their potential.
