Connection

🤔 How do you create real connection in a virtual world?

🙏 Yesterday I received some generous feedback from some sales training I delivered virtually last week.

😃 It made me pause and smile because a couple of comments stood out for me:

📶 "Your connection with the group is as good as I've seen – I felt like I was in the room with you.”

👀 “You made great eye contact through the camera and picked up visual signals throughout – it was clear you were focused on us."

😬 In a world of screens and distractions, that kind of deep connection takes effort, skill and experience - and when you achieve it it transforms people’s learning experiences.

🗿 So why the phrenology head?

💯 It’s a quirky reminder that in the 19th-century thinkers tried to map personality through bumps and ridges. Whereas today we know that real connection comes from presence, curiosity, and care. Not from measuring skulls - but instead from listening, noticing, and responding.

💯 Feedback like this isn’t just affirmation. It’s insight. It tells us what lands, what matters, and what to keep doing.

🙏 Thank you to those in the group that reminded me that, even through a webcam, we can still create learning experiences that feel human, personal, and memorable.
