Learning about AI

The best way to really learn about AI is to use it purposefully on meaningful business projects with real outcomes.

😯 Just like that, myself and 60 other small businesses have completed the "Operationalising AI" Bootcamp run by Estu over the past eleven weeks working on our own real projects - all under the expert guidance of Silke Anderson Jamie Crossman-Smith David Royle - thank you

What has stood out for me?

You need to do the work first to get the best out of AI and give yourself super powers - which means you still need to do:

🎯 the critical thinking about the problems and outcomes

🎯 the planning and sourcing of data 

🎯 the prompting, guidance, and setting of boundaries and limits 

🎯 the checks and human interventions as part of the design

🎯 the smaller steps (thin slices) towards bigger goals and ambitions

In some respects AI is no different was working other people - rather like a new colleague at work - you need to brief them properly, share background information, be clear on what you want to achieve, recognise mistakes can be made and put time in to review and check progress.

🧠 And the fireside chat at the end from a real expert in the world of AI, Walter Pasquarelli, was super insightful - the discussions touched on a wide range of topics including the AI hype cycle, Sovereign AI, National Security, Global regulation, The Economics of AI, 16 year old kids solving trash problems in Rome and What advice to give your teenage daughter about AI.
