😕😯😐 𝑨𝒔 𝒂 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒎𝒔?
👏👏👏 This week I had the 𝒑𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒆 of running a 𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒎𝒎𝒆 in the 𝑷𝒆𝒂𝒌 𝑫𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒕 again with a brilliant group of leaders. Here are a few of my 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒓𝒆𝒇𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔:
🚀🚀🚀 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑮𝒓𝒐𝒘: It never ceases to amaze me what 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 and the ideas that exist within everyone. Being genuinely curious and asking powerful questions can create powerful thoughts, feelings and actions. 𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒘𝒆 𝒎𝒆𝒆𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕.
👂👂👂 𝑳𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒏, 𝑨𝒄𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘𝒍𝒆𝒅𝒈𝒆 & 𝑬𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓: So many leaders think they know how to coach, yet they can't resist the urge to jump in with ideas, provide an opinion or ask leading questions. 𝑰𝒕'𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝒊𝒕'𝒔 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎! Use empowering questions, really listen deeply and be curious. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝒖𝒔.
🎯🎯🎯 𝑬𝒎𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝑭𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒃𝒂𝒄𝒌: It's so important to actively seek and give feedback. High performance individuals and teams are constantly looking for 𝒅𝒊𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒔, analysing their progress and 𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒍𝒚 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒅𝒐 and what their teams are doing. Feedback is at the centre of this. 𝑨𝒍𝒍 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒐𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒈𝒓𝒐𝒘𝒕𝒉.
😀😀😀 𝑩𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝑨𝒖𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒄 𝑺𝒆𝒍𝒇: Sometimes you have to 𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝒅𝒆𝒆𝒑 𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇 to discover who you really are. This can 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒖𝒏𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 for some people. Some people can hide this version of themself for all sorts of reasons. 𝑾𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒘𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒄 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒚 𝒍𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒍𝒔 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒉𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒆𝒓, 𝒘𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓.
🌎 🌍 🌏 𝑾𝒂𝒍𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈, 𝑻𝒂𝒍𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 & 𝑵𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆: Every time I've worked with leaders it's amazing how powerful it is to get them 𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆. Their minds seem to open up and they seem to 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒅𝒆𝒆𝒑𝒆𝒓 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔. Sometimes this creates those 𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒌𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝒎𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 for them. 𝑬𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒚 𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒔 𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒚. 𝑻𝒂𝒑 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝑵𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆'𝒔 𝒑𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒇𝒖𝒍 𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒚.
🚀🚀🚀 It was great to represent First Ascent Group with my co-lead Jennifer Baker and run this leadership programme for their client Sika. Thank you!
